Da Vinci Bridge

Bridges

The bridge was built as part of a construction workshop at Bandusia Country Retreat in St. Albans, NSW. The design of the bridge is based on the interlocking bridge designed by Leonardo Da Vinci. Instead of timber posts we used bamboo poles that interlock to create the arched bridge. The poles are bolted together to create a stable structure.

The deck on the bridge is made of bamboo strips tied with a tie wire. The bridge rests on timber logs with reinforcement bar inserts removing the need for concrete foundation and making it a truly sustainable structure.
