Humanitarian Design Summit
Skill DevelopmentWe were invited by Engineers Without Borders (EWB) to participate and facilitate the Humanitarian Design Summit in India. The design summit included 45 engineering, architecture and design students from various universities in Australia. Students traveled to three villages in Gujarat, India to develop an understanding around Human Centered Design.
As collaborators and facilitators for the summit we were responsible for introducing EWB to the in country partners and facilitating design workshops with students. During their time in the villages the students followed the Human Centered Design approach to empathise, define, ideate, prototype and test their ideas in close collaboration with the locals. At the end of the summit they presented their ideas, some of which were taken up by the local authorities for further development and implementation.
