Acoustic Cubby

Playscape

The Acoustic Cubby was built as part of the Pipedream project at the Venny. The concept is based around a cubby house that is also a musical orchestra where each wall of the cubby is made of different musical instrument.

The form is based on an icosahedron with each triangle forming a different musical instrument. The frame is made out of bamboo with steel pipes forming the geometric connections. The design includes various musical instruments like xylophones, shakers, tongue drums, bell plates, bucket drum and guiro.

The instruments can be played from the outside by different children or one child can sit inside and can do a solo performance. The acoustic cubby has been well loved at the Venny and provides a musical experience for children.
