Hypar Hammock

Installation | Playscape | Shelter

The Hypar Hammock is an adaptation of the hyperbolic cylinder into giant hammock that would be a perfect place to hangout in a music festival or in the background.

The design was developed by Jorg Stamm and built as part of a workshop in collaboration with Giant Grass. The structure uses 16 poles to create a hyperbolic cylinder that is bolted together with a net attached halfway in the middle. A stretched lycra roof provides shade in the hammock.

The hammock can be used in various ways on a rural property and at festival sites and would make a great play structure for children, a chook house or a chill out space with friends. We tested the hammock with 10 people at one time and it held up pretty well.
