Green Dome
Shelter | Garden Structure | PlayscapeThe Green Dome is designed as a hiding space and a quite space in the food forest of Brunswick North Primary School. The project was funded through the Moreland City Council’s community grants program.
The design was developed in collaboration with the students who wanted a space that allowed for a quite reflection among the chaos of the school playground. We used the Zome as a geometry to create the dome.
Overall, the construction of the dome was a community building exercise that allowed parents and children from the school to come together and build as structure for their own school. Parts of the dome were prefabricated in our workshops and assembled on site by children and parents from the school. Parents were also involved in splitting the bamboo and weaving the strips in the structure.
