Bamboo Loveshack

Bamboo Loveshack is a student designed and built project offered as a 3-week winter elective to the students of UNSW in Sydney. As a tutor our responsibility was to introduce students to this amazing material, guide them through the design detailing process and construction phase of the structure.

The structure is 3m x 4.5m and has a 1.2m wide deck on its two sides. The doors are made out of timber, windows have bamboo screens, the flooring is bamboo boards, whole bamboo for entire structure and whole bamboo for the deck. All the connections are bolted and the joints in stress are grouted with quick set cement.
